Cole Palmer: Grandfather reveals family's extraordinary journey from Caribbean poverty to England stardom

Star's grandfather tells of painful struggles endured in Basseterre

Cole Palmer's grandfather has spoken for the first time of his family's extraordinary journey from poverty in the Caribbean to England, as the rising star won his first cap for his country.

Grandfather Sterry Cole revealed the painful struggles endured by his family, who lived in a modest stone home in Basseterre, the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

He said: "We had nothing. We lived in a small house with no running water or electricity. I remember having to go to the well to fetch water every day."

Despite the hardships they faced, Sterry said his family never gave up hope.

"We always knew that we could achieve anything we set our minds to," he said. "And now, to see Cole playing for England, it's a dream come true."

Cole Palmer was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester, on May 6, 2002. His diverse family background includes Kittitian heritage from his father, Jermaine Palmer.

Cole's father has Caribbean roots. His grandfather comes from St Kitts and Nevis. That's why Palmer proudly wears the St Kitts flag on his boots. It's a tribute and a sign of respect for his heritage.

There are some mixed reports about the father of Cole Palmer. The Daily Mail reported that the grandfather of Cole has his roots on the island of St Kitts, which is in the West Indies.
